Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Police state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then found many other smeared cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have requested to the public for information.
A senior political figure said the attack rendered him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
